About the event
Set in NYC in 1971, SEXY SADIE follows a young, strong-willed woman named Sadie, who has the sensibilities of an artist without the talent (or really, the support). Pushed by her overbearing family, she's thrust into a nuclear family with a musician, Ian, but must come to terms, years later, with the true reason for her unhappiness. Sadie has to find the strength to accept who she really is, or continue destroying herself and everyone around her. Rachel Pacelli is a graduate of Cornish College of the Arts with her BFA in Theater (Original Works). She wrote and performed a solo show, “Annarella” for NY Theater Festival’s Summerfest, and was in director Michael Mailer’s Off-Off Broadway show, “Darkness of Light” at the Chain Theater. She’ll next be seen in the play “The Fourth Grade Christmas Dance” for the NY Theater Festival. Most recently, she wrote, produced, and starred in the award-nominated short, “A Cause For Alarm” for the 48-Hour Film Project. Her debut novel, “Spools of Red Twine” was published by Propertius Press in 2019, and her second novel, “Lamia Weeps” is being published in July, 2025 (Wales, UK; Barnard Publishing). She’s also currently in development for a feature-length horror film, “Gorelesque”.
Emily- Director- is a Brooklyn based writer, director, and performer. She most recently wrote and directed “A Cause for Alarm,” a short film made for the 48 Hour Film Festival, and was nominated for Best Score and Audience Favorite. She previously directed Annarella, written by Rachel Pacelli, for the New York Theatre Festival, and produced and stage managed for a production of True West directed by Barrett Crowder. Emily would like to thank her friends and family for always supporting her. A special thanks to Rachel Pacelli for consistently creating the most beautiful art.
